JSSA Educational Scholarship Fund
Scholarship Sponsored by Jewish Social Service Agency
Introduction
JSSA is honored to manage scholarship funds donated by generous members of the Jewish community who wish to help students pursue their educational goals. The 2026–2027 scholarship application cycle is now open.
Single Application — One Form for All Scholarships
There is one application that will be used to consider candidates for every scholarship administered by JSSA and the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington that is listed online. Complete this single form to be eligible for any of the awards for which you meet the criteria.
Who is Eligible
These scholarships are for students whose permanent residence is in Montgomery County, Maryland; Fairfax County, Virginia; or the District of Columbia. Awards are limited to tuition expenses only.
How to Apply — Important Instructions
- Deadline: Submit a completed application by Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Only applications that are fully completed by the deadline will be considered.
- Review timeline: All qualifying applications will be reviewed after the deadline; review begins Monday, May 18, 2026. Please do not submit your application until it is finished — incomplete submissions will not be eligible for awards.
- File naming: When uploading documents, start each filename with your first and last initials. For example, John Doe should name a resume file JD_Resume.
FAFSA Guidance
If you plan to file a FAFSA for the 2026–2027 academic year, please complete the FAFSA and obtain your SAI Submission Report before submitting your scholarship application. Although the FAFSA is not required to apply, the Scholarship Committee relies on FAFSA information in its review and award decisions, so we strongly encourage eligible applicants to include the SAI Submission Report with their application.
Noncitizen applicants should also fill out the FAFSA and select "No, I am not a citizen or eligible noncitizen." While noncitizens are not eligible for federal financial aid, completing the FAFSA can benefit applications for state and private scholarships, including these awards.
