AGC NYS Diesel Scholarships

Introduction
AGC awards two to three scholarships each year for students pursuing Diesel Technology, with past awards ranging from $1,500 to $2,500. All scholarships are dependent on recipients maintaining at least a 2.50 GPA while enrolled full time in a diesel technology major. Complete an online application. DUE MAY 1, 2026. Applications are due the first Friday in May; if you do not finish the application in one session, you will receive an emailed link to return to where you left off.
Eligibility
To be eligible applicants must:
- Be in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a two- or four‑year program.
- Be committed to pursuing a career in the construction equipment industry.
- Be enrolled in and pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology.
- Be a full‑time undergraduate student carrying at least 12 credit hours.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a documented permanent resident.
- Be a resident of New York State (attendance at an out‑of‑state college or university is permitted).
Application materials (required)
A completed application package includes:
1. The fully completed online application (due May 1, 2026).
2. Three evaluation forms — these may be completed by any combination of college faculty or academic advisors, employers, or other adults not related to the applicant (preferably industry professionals).
3. An official transcript showing all college grades to date. Web‑downloaded transcripts will not be accepted. Students with a GPA under 2.5 will not be considered. (Most applicants’ most recent grades are expected to be from Fall 2025.)
Awards and selection
- Scholarship amounts: Scholarships are $2,500 per student per year. (AGC has historically awarded amounts between $1,500 and $2,500 and typically grants two to three scholarships annually.)
- Selection: Applications will be reviewed by the AGC Scholarship & Student Chapters Committee. The committee will weigh applicants’ interest in the construction industry, academic record, extracurricular activities, work experience, and the evaluations provided.
- Notification: Finalists will be notified in June 2026.
- Payment schedule: One‑half of the scholarship will be disbursed in August; the remaining half will be paid in December.
- Continuing eligibility: Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.50 and remain enrolled full time in a diesel technology major. Scholarship recipients are required to submit Spring 2026 semester grades by October 1, 2027. Failure to provide the required grades may lead to disqualification and repayment of scholarship funds.
