Make the World Better Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Butler Kahn Law Firm
Butler Kahn represents people and families. Based in Atlanta, we are personal injury attorneys who take on powerful opponents — from insurance companies to large corporations — on behalf of clients who have been harmed or killed. This work is challenging: we often face adversaries with extensive resources who resist paying fair compensation. When we win, we feel we’ve made life better for our client and, in small ways, for the wider community.
We strive to create real change. For example, our firm was part of the team that obtained a $150 million verdict against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, a result that helped trigger a recall of hazardous SUVs. By rigorously questioning trucking executives about unsafe driving practices, we push transportation companies to improve safety. Taking insurance companies to trial for refusing fair payments teaches them the consequences of denying injured people compensation. And when we support survivors of sexual assault or rape in seeking justice, we help survivors reclaim power over their lives.
We also want to support your efforts to improve the world — whatever form that takes. Your approach might be less confrontational than ours; it could involve work in another country, developing technology, building community connections, educating others, or something entirely different that we haven’t imagined.
