Every spring, The University of Alabama chooses an incoming freshman to be the recipient of the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship. The selection is made through a competitive interview process that takes place during the student's final year of high school. This scholarship is exclusively available to first-year students who are residents of Alabama.
The scholarship can be renewed annually for up to four years, provided the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Eligibility criteria for the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship include:
- Being a first-generation student, which means neither of the student's parents have more than two years of post-high school education or a post-secondary degree
- Residing in Alabama
- Having a minimum high school GPA of 3.0
- Showing financial need
- Application Process for High School Seniors:
- Submit the UA Scholarship Application by January 15. Make sure to indicate your interest in the university’s first generation scholarship programs and answer the associated essay questions.
- Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1.
- Attend an interview with the Selection Panel during the spring semester.
- Responsibilities of Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars include:
- Enrolling in a specified general studies course in the fall semester.
- Maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Participating in all mandatory activities, programs, and service projects.
- Regularly meeting with the First Generation Scholarships program manager.
