Overview
College can be an incredibly rewarding time, but financing it can be a challenge. The CollegeCounts Scholarship offers financial support to Alabama high school students who show financial need and intend to attend college in Alabama.
Who can apply
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must satisfy every item below:
- Be a high school senior or a first-time college freshman starting in fall 2026
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be an Alabama resident
- Plan to enroll at an Alabama-eligible educational institution in fall 2026
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- Have an ACT score of 29 or lower (note: those who will attend a two-year college are not required to submit ACT scores)
Award information
- Four-year college students: $4,000 award
- Two-year college students: $2,000 award
- The scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award and is distributed on a semester basis during the student’s first academic year

- Closes: February 28, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CST
