Introduction The Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship supports female students from Alabama who are enrolled in an Alabama law school. Established by the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar, the award commemorates Justice Janie L. Shores, the first woman to serve on the Alabama Supreme Court. Eligibility Recipients must be female residents of Alabama and attending an accredited law school in the state. One or more scholarships may be granted. Award Timing Scholarships are distributed on an annual basis. Alabama Law Foundation The Alabama Law Foundation advances access to justice for those in need by providing funding, opportunities, resources, education, and public awareness. Its work promotes the principle that all people are equally subject to the law and legal processes.
