Smith Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Smith Foundation
Please read and follow these instructions carefully before submitting your application. All awardees will be notified on or before May 1, 2026.
Eligibility & Submission Guidelines
- Proofread: Have a person (not an AI) review your application for correct grammar, punctuation, and capitalization before you submit. Use of AI-generated text in any form will be treated as plagiarism and will result in disqualification.
- Focus: This is not a writing contest. We care about who you are — your personal challenges and victories, your educational background, and your career aspirations.
- School selection: If you have already committed to a single university as the only school you will attend, please do not apply. While an applicant’s academically based school choice is an important factor, the BOT considers multiple elements when matching scholarship recipients to institutions.
Mandatory Event
- Boot Camp is a required, full-day event for newly awarded scholars and will be held on Sunday, June 1st in Birmingham, AL. If you cannot attend this mandatory event, do not submit an application.
After You Apply
- After your application is submitted, you will be informed about any award decision. If selected, you will be required to provide documentation that verifies the information on your application.
- All communications and any award agreements will be produced using the personal information you supply in your application.
Certification and Consent
By signing the application, you confirm that the information you have provided (including attachments) is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge. You also authorize disclosure of this information to the Smith Scholarship Foundation, its officers and trustees, and any other individuals the Foundation designates to review the application.
Thank you for your honesty. The Smith Scholarship Foundation encourages you to keep pursuing your academic goals.
