Fleming Law Accident & Injury Attorneys announces the Driver Safety Scholarship, created out of our direct experience representing people whose lives have been devastated by preventable crashes. Each day we see the consequences of speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and other dangerous behaviors — and we want to support students who can bring fresh, practical solutions to reduce those harms.

Purpose
We are looking for thoughtful, realistic proposals that address how to prevent collisions before they occur. Applicants should consider the roles individuals, neighborhoods, schools, and law enforcement can play — and may propose technological solutions, public education campaigns, or policy changes. Submissions should focus on ideas that are feasible, sustainable, and likely to make a measurable difference on road safety.

Eligibility
- Open to U.S. legal residents living in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia who are one of the following: current high school seniors, vocational students, undergraduate students (two- or four-year programs), or graduate students.
- Must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year postsecondary institution (or, for high school seniors, provide proof of acceptance to a college or university).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and in good academic standing.
- Employees of Fleming Law Accident & Injury Attorneys, their immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, spouses), and anyone living in the same household as such employees are not eligible.
- Preference may be given to applicants who live in or attend secondary school in Texas.

Application requirements
- Essay: Submit an original, 750–1,000-word essay responding to the prompt: What can individuals, schools, or communities do to promote safer driving and prevent accidents? Present a realistic and creative idea — whether a campaign, policy, or technological solution — that could improve road safety.
- AI policy: All essays will be screened for AI-generated content. Applications containing AI-written text will be disqualified.
- Resume: Provide a professional résumé listing academic and relevant professional experience.
- Transcript/proof of enrollment:
- Current students must submit a transcript from their present school.
- First-year college students, graduate students, or recent transfers may provide an unofficial transcript from their current institution plus the most recent official transcript from their prior school.
- High school seniors may submit documentation of college/university acceptance in lieu of a college transcript.

We encourage applicants to propose solutions that can realistically be implemented and sustained, and that foster collaboration across individuals, schools, communities, and law enforcement to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities.
