To be eligible for an AMEA scholarship, a student’s parent and/or legal guardian must receive electric service from an AMEA Member utility, and the student must attend a four-year college/university, community college, and/or vocational/trade school within the state of Alabama.

To be eligible for an AMEA scholarship, a student’s parent and/or legal guardian must receive electric service from an AMEA Member utility. Granted only to graduating high school seniors, the student must attend a four-year college/university, community college, and/ or vocational/trade school within the state of Alabama.
AMEA and its Member cities will make available 44, $2,500 scholarships.

PLEASE SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING ALONG WITH YOUR APPLICATION:
- Official High School Transcript
- Official ACT or SAT Score Certificate (if copy, please have counselor sign it)
- Please attach a resume of all school extracurricular, church, community service, work experience and/or volunteer activities that you desire to be taken into account in your application.
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (No letters from relatives accepted)
SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS
The terms and conditions on which the scholarships are to be made for the 2025 scholarship year are as follows:
- The scholarship will only be granted to graduating high school seniors.
- In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a dependent of an electric customer of an AMEA Member city/utility at the time the application is made and through graduation from high school.
- In order to qualify for the scholarship, the student must attend a four-year college, community college, or vocational/trade school in the state of Alabama.
- The scholarship will be paid by AMEA directly to the educational institution for credit to the student’s account at the institution.
- The scholarship must be utilized within 16 months following the student’s graduation.
- The scholarships will be announced and awarded in the spring.
- Incomplete applications (including all attachments) will be disqualified.
